Halfway through the class, I was sweating buckets

How did you feel after your first yoga session?

Completely out of my depth, to be honest! I was 25, super stressed from work, and thought yoga would just be easy stretching. Halfway through the class, I was sweating buckets and wondering why my body didn’t bend the way everyone else’s did. But when it ended, I felt this weird sense of calm I hadn’t experienced in years. I knew I had to go back.

How do you fit yoga into your busy lifestyle?

I squeeze it in wherever I can—usually a quick 20-minute flow before work or a lunchtime class near the office. On weekends, I love taking longer classes at my local studio or even just rolling out my mat at home with a YouTube video. It’s about making it work, even if it’s just a few minutes to stretch and breathe.

How do you deal with fear or hesitation when attempting new poses?

I used to get so caught up in comparing myself to others in class, especially when trying tricky poses like crow or headstand. Now, I remind myself that everyone started somewhere. If I can’t do it today, that’s fine—I focus on the journey rather than the outcome. And when I finally nail a pose I’ve been working on, it feels amazing.

How has yoga influenced your life outside the mat?

It’s completely changed how I approach stress. Work is hectic, and London life moves fast, but yoga has taught me to pause, breathe, and not let the chaos consume me. Even in meetings or crowded Tube rides, I’ll sneak in a few calming breaths. It’s my secret superpower for staying sane.
